Blue Monday?
Albert Quintero • January 6, 2014
I saw an article today that shocked me.
I woke up really happy that it was Monday at the beginning of a full week of work. The partial weeks caused by the holidays had finally come to an end and the blizzard of distraction was finally behind us. At last, everyone would be able to focus on creating their future and gaining momentum with their goals for the coming year. The path to prosperity was open and ready for traffic.
Then I was checking the news and read that the first Monday in the new year was considered Blue Monday, the unhappiest day of the year.
Shocking
How can this be? They have their whole life and future in front of them! And therein lies the problem. Because most people don’t enjoy what they do and the reality of returning to work after having some time to rest and evaluate life (particularly with a new year) highlights the disparity between what they want to do and what they are doing.
To me, the big question is what causes people to persist with doing something that they don’t enjoy?
Life is so short. Spending days trapped in careers, relationships or situations that they don’t enjoy is fatal. Every moment that they are stuck sucks the life force out of them. The immune system gets a clear message that they don’t want to be alive. And then they wonder why they get sick? Did you know that Monday mornings are when most people have heart attacks?
Again, the cause is the same. Despair turns into a clear message: Kill me now!
Why Not Change?
And of course, the biggest question of all is why stay in situations that are killing you? Everyone has their reasons, I’m sure. But given that it’s a choice between being alive and healthy or dying prematurely and miserably, does it really seem like there is a reason that is better than making a change?
I know this seems obvious but ask yourself: How many people do you know that stay in unhappy situations?
It’s their primary topic of discussion as it infuses all aspects of their life. Material things or the false appearance of security overrides their ability to act. Their energy goes into trying to compensate for their pain and misery rather than being creative and making a better life happen.
We live in a land and time when we have more opportunity than ever before.
If someone is serious about improving their life, they can. We don’t have a caste system or monarchy that prevents us from exploring other possibilities. All we have is our own internal limitations. If this is true for you and you want to learn to overcome these limitations, start by deciding to change and committing yourself to seek the means to change.
This blog has lots of additional guidance to help you move forward. There are lots of workshops and practitioners in the world that can help as well. If you know of a Polarity Realization trained therapist or Practitioner you are fortunate since they can help you to break through what’s holding you back. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you can turn Blue Mondays in the future into Opportunity Mondays instead.
Sincerely,
Kris
